MIRI: Parking attendants here are using their smart phone to take photos of the vehicles parked illegally, as proof to support the summons they issue against such vehicles.
MCC Parking sub-committee Councillor Karambir Singh Honey said the new policy was to protect the interest of the both parking attendants and vehicle owners as the photos could be used as evidence in case of disputes.
“We have received countless complaints from vehicle owners, accusing attendants of wrongfully issuing parking summonses. With the new policy we hope to reduce such complaints.
“Moreover, we are very concerned with the performance of our parking attendants and hope that the new policy would enhance their performance,” he said.
Under the policy, a parking attendant who issues a wrong summon will have to bear the consequences through a deduction of the amount from his/her salary.
“It depends on the number of summonses wrongly issued and the amount involved which would be deducted from their monthly salary of only RM920. By taking such extreme measure, will ensure that they (parking attendant) will take their job seriously and responsibly.”
